A hooded Saker hunting falcon, photographed on location in the Gulf of Arabia using a traditional portrait studio set up with a backdrop and lights.

The saker falcon (Falco Cherrug) is a big, strong bird of prey with large feet and broad wings. Due to the gradual environmental destruction of their natural habitat in the steppes and the subsequent disappearance of their usual prey, the number of saker falcons in the wild are dangerously decreasing, and they may soon become extinct.
This is a hand-pulled, photogravure (heliogravure / photo-etching) printed using quality etching paper and oil-based inks.
