For 2021, we are offering an artist residency for a period of up to 4 weeks between 15 Sept - 15 Oct. This non-tutored residency will allow you to develop and work on a project of your choice. It is ideally suited to photographers and printmakers, but it can also accommodate other creative practices such as writing, drawing, painting, etc. As there will be no tuition you need to be self-motivated and resourceful to effectively manage your time and effort.

Photographic and printmaking studio facilities including the printing press will available, as will technical assistance if needed. Depending on the participants, various activities can be organised such as group discussions, video evenings, presentation of art works, as well as recreational activities.

DATES

The residency period is from 1 to 4 weeks between 15 Sept - 15 Oct. There may be a possibility to stay longer if desired. Please enquire if you have any specific needs.

INCLUDES ​

• Shared use of the studio, press and other photography and printmaking equipment and facilities

• Technical assistance is available if needed

• Accommodation in a private, en-suite room at Casa da Cabaza.

• Food and drinks are included, preparation of meals is self-catering in the communal kitchen

• Shared use of other guest facilities and spaces at Casa da Cabaza.

• Collection from and return to local transportation points

• The cost of materials and consumables, e.g. inks, papers, which will be extra. If you wish to purchase certain materials and consumables here let us know in advance so this can be arranged

• Travel costs (airport pick-up / drop-off can be arranged)

• Personal / health / travel insurance

​NON-PARTICIPATING COMPANION

A companion is welcome to join you and share your room without the use of the art facilities for an additional 50% of your fee​, meals and drinks included.

APPLICATION

To enquire about the residency write to tariq@tariqdajani.com at least 4 weeks prior to arrival. 

Include information about your area of interest and your proposed project, your CV, links to online work, and a short statement about why you want to do a residency at Casa da Cabaza and what you hope to achieve during your time here. 

​

When accepted you will be invited to pay a non-refundable booking fee of 50% of the total fee. When this is paid your place is confirmed. The remainder is paid before or on arrival at Casa da Cabaza.

 

Note: priority is given to artists who commit to longer residency periods than shorter ones.
