Little is shown of this charcoal black horse other than the shape of his upper body, head and mane against a dark backdrop, but for me it is the feeling of what the picture alludes to that draws the eye in, fires the imagination and takes the viewer somewhere else. Perhaps the less that is said, the more poetic the statement. I want to give 'the feeling of the night, not to tell the night as it is'.
